Here at The Design Hive, we’ve designed and built many websites over the years. We really enjoy the journey from initial consultation, website design and conception, through to web development and deployment. Seeing the reaction of happy customers never gets old!
E-commerce, portfolio, magazine, blogging, recruitment sites, we’ve pretty much done them all. It’s so hard to highlight our top website picks, but these 7 have really stood out to us as some of our most enjoyable to work on – and no, they’re not in any rank order 😉
1. Sopha Website Design & Development – Highbridge Somerset
Sopha is a furniture store that aims to be different. We’re incredibly proud to have been the creators of the Sopha brand for their fabulous furniture store in Highbridge, Somerset.
Built from the ground up, we designed and created a fully responsive e-commerce website that continued their strong identity, provides a solid platform for their huge range of variable products and ensured the final site was easy to maintain for the future.
With over 510 products and rising, spread over 60 plus categories, it was a lot of work and probably our largest developed site to date, but we had great fun building their new website!
2. Public Practice Recruitment Website Design & Development – Stratford-upon-Avon
We were approached by Garry at Public Practice Recruitment who provides a recruitment service specialising in accountancy and audit positions all over the United Kingdom. Garry wanted a complete redesign of his existing website, to freshen things up, add additional functionality, yet retain his strong online presence he and his team had built up over the years.
With almost 1000 vacancies on their books, a lot of work went on behind the scenes ensuring that the transition from the old site to the new site went as smoothly as possible, and most importantly, to ensure there were no nasty SEO surprises and that all 301 redirects were setup correctly and there were no dreaded 404s!
Designed and developed from scratch (we never use themes or templates in any of our builds), we built the site to be as user friendly as possible to update and maintain, both for visitors and Public Practice Recruitment.

3. Yesterday Once More Website Design & Development – Axbridge, Somerset
Yesterday Once More provide unique musical-themed holidays, weekends and concerts across the UK, Europe and as far as the US. They cater for all music types, but with a strong focus on 60s, 70s, Rock & Roll and Elvis.
They required a full rebuild of their existing site that was no longer responsive and was starting to show its age. We designed them a brand new, fresh, modern and fully responsive site to showcase all of their fantastic events, and with an e-commerce ability for their loyal customers to book online.
With a full calendar view and details on each location and music acts, we’re really pleased with the results and from the feedback of their customers, it looks like we’ve really hit the spot!
4. Hudnott’s Website Design & Development – Bideford, Devon
A small family-run business based in Bideford, Devon. The Hudnott’s create curiously delicious hand-crafted concoctions using only natural ingredients, specialising in flavoured spirits.
Hudnott’s required a refresh of their existing website, with the ability to easily add new events, stockists and for her customers to be able to order online. We built her a brand-new responsive website, designed to be user friendly and easy to maintain.
Fortunately, Kate already had an abundance of beautiful imagery of her drinks. It was a pleasure to design and build and fulfilled our creative needs!
5. Diamond Farm Website Design & Development – Brean & Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset
Located in the heart of Somerset, Diamond Farm Holiday Parks are a range of beautiful holiday locations catering for touring and camping, bungalow hire, static lodges and seasonal pitches.
Although they had an existing website, it needed bringing up to date, made fully responsive and easier to navigate. We were fortunate enough to work with them on a new logo design, new brand and business stationery. We then carried this new modern look across their entire website.
6. Baytree School Website Design & Development – Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
Baytree School is a Specialist School for young people who have severe learning difficulties and/or profound and multiple learning difficulties, based in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Their old website had become dated, unresponsive and didn’t fully reflect the great work they do at the school. They approached us to design a fresh, modern and attractive website that was easy to keep updated with all school news and policies.
We designed and built them a completely custom, bright and inviting WordPress website that fully encapsulates the educational values they represent.
7. Somerset Passenger Solutions – J24 Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset
Somerset Passenger Solutions provide the transportation needs of the Hinkley Point C Project in Somerset.
We designed and developed a custom-build website whereby they could showcase and offer their services, as well as functionality to post job vacancies online. Utilising WordPress as the ideal platform, we created a fast and secure solution to suit their specific requirements.
