We believe responsible design businesses should think beyond the work they produce and consider the impact of how they operate. At Design Hive, we’re committed to making practical, considered choices that reduce our environmental footprint and support more sustainable ways of working.
We don’t claim to be perfect, but we do believe in progress, transparency, and making improvements where we can.
Sustainability starts with how we work day to day. From digital-first thinking to thoughtful production choices, we aim to reduce waste and create work that lasts - not work that needs replacing unnecessarily.
Where print is required, we encourage responsible materials, efficient formats, and suppliers who share similar environmental values.
The websites we design are supported by environmentally responsible hosting from the ground up. We work with hosting partners who are certified B Corps and operate on 100 percent renewable energy, using energy-efficient data centres and actively reinvesting in environmental initiatives. This means the digital infrastructure behind our clients’ websites is not only fast and secure, but designed to reduce environmental impact and support more sustainable growth.
Alongside our client work, we’re deeply committed to supporting the wider business community. As a director on the board of the Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce, we play an active role in championing local businesses - acting as a sounding board, sharing experience, and helping create opportunities for connection and growth. From producing the Sedgemoor Chamber InBusiness Magazine to helping deliver major events such as the Somerset Business Expo and the Sedgemoor Business Awards, this work reflects our belief that strong businesses are built through collaboration, shared knowledge, and community.
Sustainability isn’t a one-off decision - it’s an ongoing process. We continue to review how we work, the partners we collaborate with, and the choices we make as the business grows.
